Preparing Your Garden for Bouncy Castle Hire
Preparing Your Garden for Bouncy Castle Hire
A little preparation goes a long way when hiring a bouncy castle for your garden. This guide explains what to check before delivery so setup is smooth, safe and stress free on the day of your event.
Measure the available space accurately
Start by measuring the area where the bouncy castle will be placed. You need enough room for the inflatable itself plus clear space around the sides and at the front for safe entry and exit. Do not guess measurements. Check for fences, sheds, walls, trees, clothes lines and overhead cables that could reduce usable space.
Check ground conditions
The surface should be reasonably flat and stable. Grass is ideal, but it should not be waterlogged or muddy. Very soft ground can affect anchoring and access. If your garden has a slope, let us know in advance so suitability can be assessed.
Clear the setup area
Before delivery, remove garden furniture, toys, plant pots, trampolines and any loose items from the setup area. This helps avoid delays and ensures the inflatable can be positioned correctly on arrival.
Think about access to the garden
Access is one of the most common issues. Check the route from where the delivery vehicle will park to the garden. Narrow gates, steps, gravel paths or long carry distances can affect what can be delivered safely. If access is tight, tell us in advance so suitable equipment can be recommended.
Confirm a suitable power source
Bouncy castles require a safe power supply. Make sure there is a working socket within reasonable distance of the setup area. Extension leads should not cross walkways or be left in standing water. If you are unsure about power access, discuss this before the day.
Consider the age group using the inflatable
The age of the children attending helps determine the right setup. For younger children, enclosed and lower-height options from our Playzones work well. For older children, standard Bouncy Castles or more active layouts may be more suitable. Choosing correctly helps keep play safe and enjoyable.
Plan supervision in advance
A responsible adult must supervise the inflatable at all times while it is in use. Make sure this is planned ahead, especially if you are hosting a busy party. Clear supervision helps manage numbers, behaviour and safe use.
Prepare for weather changes
Outdoor events depend on the weather. Light rain can sometimes be managed, but wind is the biggest concern. If possible, have a simple backup plan such as access to a hall. If weather conditions become unsafe, the inflatable must not be used.
Keep pets and hazards away
Ensure pets are kept away from the inflatable area before and during the hire. Remove sharp objects, garden tools and hoses from nearby areas to reduce risk of damage or injury.
Final checks before delivery
- Garden measured with clearance allowed
- Setup area cleared of obstacles
- Access route checked and clear
- Power source confirmed
- Supervision arranged
- Weather forecast reviewed
Preparing your garden properly helps ensure the inflatable can be delivered, set up and enjoyed without issues. If you are unsure about any part of the setup, asking questions in advance is always the best approach.
